Back in July our lead Occupational Therapist, Belinda McLean, was a finalist in an event called The Care Innovation Challenge, a weekend of intense entrepreneurial activity hosted by the National Care Forum. As part of team Kit to Live, she helped develop an idea around a smart phone app to aid delivering small items of equipment in a more efficient way across the UK to reduce waiting times for an Occupational Therapy assessment.
As a finalist, Belinda went on to a further two days of competing at The Care Show 2023 at Birminghams NEC. Team Kit to Live had to win votes and convince a team of judges that their idea was worthy of further investment. Although team Kit to Live didn’t win, Belinda said that she spoke with many interested leaders of the care industry and even got a vote from someone from the department of Health and Social Care!
Overall Belinda said that she learned a lot about the effort and processes needed to take an idea from concept to viable product and was proud to promote and represent her profession as an Occupational Therapist and of course, to represent St Luke’s!
We are all very proud of Belinda's achievement
