On Saturday 14th, an amazing number of walkers turned out for St Luke's Hospital first sponsored walk around some of the most beautiful parts of the Oxfordshire Countryside. They took on a very rolling route of 14 miles to help raise funds for the charity's refurbishment programme which is currently underway.
Their goal was to raise enough funds to refurbish one room at the hospital - a target of £15,000. There are 20 bedrooms that are needing a major overhaul - the bathrooms in particular are being transformed into ensuite wet rooms which will accommodate a wheelchair or walking aid for a patient.
We are pleased to report that the walkers have raised a staggering £22,500 (including gift aid) .
A massive congratulations to everyone who took part. A very big thanks to Juliet Norman who has masterminded the walk with fellow trustee Luke Ponsonby. A big thank you also to Nikki Ponsonby and a team of helpers who fed, watered and supported the walkers throughout the day.
